The Cheyenne Frontier Days Invitational Western Art Show features the nation’s top Western artists presenting original art that celebrates the heritage and the future of the American West. My third year invited to this high-caliber art show; I was thrilled to present four new works.

 

The CFD opening reception began, as always, at the Wyoming Governor’s mansion, where the Governor and First Lady host a cocktail party on their lawn to participating artists, patrons and sponsors of the art show.  CFD draws western and wildlife artists and loyal art buyers from all over the country every year.

 

The evening continued at a private reception at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum for a first peak and purchase of art. The show is then open to the public for an additional four weeks.  This art show and sale is the largest annual fundraising event supporting the Old West Museum programs, such as Arts Education, Exhibits, Collections, and Operations.

 

   

 

While the opening reception of invitational art shows is the most anticipated evening of the show, all artists hope to sell the work they labored over during the year.  And while sales are necessary to one’s livelihood, it is also comforting knowing a portion of those proceeds supports the venue – and that the show's jury made a wise choice in inviting you.

 

   

 

In the end, I am happy that my art spoke to many throughout the evening, to have sold works to two excited couples at this year’s reception, and to have mingled with existing and new collectors, guests, artist friends and museum staff.  The show continues through August 18, come out to Cheyenne to see dozens of works by some of the greatest western and wildlife artists in the country!
